A full social programme will be offered enabling delegates and accompanying guests to network and to experience the culture and history of London. The week will culminate in the 103rd Annual Dinner of IMarEST to be held at London’s Grosvenor House. Accompanying guests are an important part of WMTC 2006; it is hoped that many will attend and enjoy the evening social events and participate in the accompanying guests’ programme.

The £25 million London Aquarium is the first attraction of its kind in the capital, and is one of Europe's largest exhibitions of global aquatic life, displayed in over 2 million litres of water.
Just a few facts and figures to marvel at:
- There are approximately 50 different displays, which hold approximately 3000 different forms of marine life.
- The two main tanks are some of the largest in the UK. The Pacific display holds approximately 1 million litres of water and the Atlantic tank holds 750,000 litres of water. The remaining tanks in the aquarium hold between 1,000 litres to 70,000 litres of water.
- New features last year included new octopus, jellyfish, mangrove and European freshwater displays
- If you wanted to travel the world to see all the fish and invertebrate at the aquarium you would cover 38,337 miles.
- The livestock at the Aquarium consume 12 tons of food a year, that's the same weight as 3,800 gold bullion bars.
- The Aquarium receives the equivalent weight of 9 London buses in salt annually to make up their seawater.

WMTC 2006 will culminate on 10 March with the WMTC Conference Dinner and IMarEST Annual Dinner at which the guest speaker will be The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of The City of London , Alderman David Brewer CMG. Typically over 750 leading maritime professionals attend this annual event. In 2006, WMTC delegates and their partners will swell that number and the combined WMTC Conference and IMarEST Annual Dinner will mark the end of what promises to be a highly successful WMTC 2006.
